Saint John Paul II Academy has a great resource for students in our pastoral care team according to the precepts of the Pastoral Constitution on the Church in the Modern World, Gaudium et Spes. This document defines "pastoral care" as using "not only theological principles, but also of the findings of the secular sciences, especially of psychology and sociology, so that the faithful may be brought to a more adequate and mature life of faith."

Our pastoral care team can provide counseling, spiritual direction, and support services to students if they desire it. Approximately 20% of students at Saint John Paul II Academy actively seek pastoral counseling and/or spiritual direction. The team consists of:

Brother Daniel Aubin, FSC

Brother Dan is the President of Saint John Paul II Academy. In addition to his duties as President, he has a keen interest and is a member of our Campus Ministry Department. He has completed a Master's in Counseling from St. John's University and has served as a pastoral counselor at Saint John Paul II for many students. He also serves as the Spiritual Director of the Kairos Program and has made every Kairos since his arrival in 2012.
 
Mr. Shea Ciarletta, BA

Mr. Ciarletta is the Director of Institutional Advancement of Saint John Paul II Academy. He also serves as the Director of the Kairos Program. Mr. Ciarletta has been involved in the Kairos program since his time as a student and continued as an alumnus of Saint John Paul II Academy. He has served as a member of the staff and the Director of the Kairos program since 2018.  He is currently attending the Buttimer Institute of Lasallian Studies.
